Nose Strips: The End of Snoring?

Micheal from North Carolina asked "Do Breathe Right strips work for snoring?"

Michael thanks for asking.

If your snoring is severe enough to look for a cure than I would go to a specialist to make sure you don't have any significant oxygen desaturations during sleep.  By causing less resistance in the nose the strips possibly can help relieve some negative pressure occuring in the back of the throat.  But to say they cure snoring would be a stretch.  The only thing that cures snoring is surgery or a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure). The strips can help with breathing through the nose as it makes the nasal passages wider where there is sometimes swelling.  I have tried them myself and have felt some significant relief.  If they are needed all the time then you are masking a problem----temporary fix.
